Travel Updates
Stay informed with the latest travel information to help you plan a smooth and enjoyable African safari with Zawame Travel. We recommend checking this page regularly before your departure, as travel requirements and park regulations may change.
Passport & Entry Requirements
Before travelling, please ensure that your passport:
- Is valid for at least six (6) months from your date of arrival.
- Has at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.
- Is in good condition without significant damage.
Many African countries require visitors to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or tourist visa before arrival, while others offer visa-free entry or visas on arrival depending on your nationality. Requirements vary by country and passport, so we advise checking the latest immigration guidelines well in advance.
Our travel consultants are happy to guide you through the visa process where applicable.
Health & Vaccination Information
Your health and well-being are important throughout your safari.
Before travelling, we recommend consulting your doctor or travel clinic 4–8 weeks before departure regarding:
- Routine vaccinations
- Yellow Fever vaccination (where required)
- Malaria prevention medication
- Any destination-specific health recommendations
Some countries may require proof of a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, particularly if you are arriving from or transiting through countries with a risk of Yellow Fever transmission.
We also recommend carrying:
- Personal prescription medications
- A small first aid kit
- Insect repellent
- Sunscreen
- Hand sanitizer
If you have any medical conditions or dietary requirements, kindly inform us before your safari so we can make appropriate arrangements whenever possible.
Weather & Best Time to Visit
Africa offers incredible safari experiences throughout the year, with each season offering something unique.
Dry Season
Generally considered the best time for wildlife viewing because animals gather around rivers and waterholes.
Expect:
- Sunny days
- Cooler mornings and evenings
- Minimal rainfall
- Excellent photography conditions
Green Season
The rainy season transforms the landscapes into lush green scenery.
Benefits include:
- Beautiful landscapes
- Excellent birdwatching
- Fewer tourists
- Great value for accommodation
- Newborn wildlife
Regardless of when you travel, every safari offers unique and unforgettable experiences.
What to Pack
Packing appropriately will make your safari more comfortable.
We recommend bringing:
- Neutral-coloured clothing (khaki, olive, beige or brown)
- Lightweight shirts and trousers
- A warm fleece or jacket for early morning game drives
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Wide-brimmed hat
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Binoculars
- Camera with extra batteries and memory cards

Avoid bright colours, camouflage clothing (restricted in some countries), and excessive luggage.
For domestic safari flights, baggage restrictions may apply. Soft-sided duffel bags are generally preferred over hard suitcases.
